Working with Complex Child Protection Issues is a training course offered through our partnership with London East Connexions Partnership (LECP).
Hosted by the Victoria Climbié Foundation UK, the session aims to enhance understanding of evidence-based practice in achieving best outcomes for children. To develop an understanding of theories and best practice in risk assessment skills for use in complex cases. The course is underpinned by relevant legislation, equality and diversity principles, and the national and local safeguarding agenda.
Learning Outcomes
- The role of evidence-based practice in achieving best outcomes for children
- An overview of key research and theories underpinning good analysis and assessment practice within the legal and safeguarding children frameworks
- Practical applications of assessment tools
- How research and theories can inform decision making and the use of assessment tools and techniques
- The application of professional judgement and critical thinking to decision making when assessing risk
- Assessing and managing risk in potentially dangerous families
- Recognising risk factors, vulnerability and warning signs to mobile families and knowledge of local and national support for these families.
