The Ministry of Justice is currently conducting a review of the Family Justice system in England and Wales.

VCF responded to the call for evidence as part of the review. Our response called for a child centred approach that embraced families and helped those who struggle within the current system.

Key points in our submission included:

  • The Family Justice System should be a holistic, supportive system;
  • Families who also have to deal with cultural and faith issues, may find themselves lost within the current system;
  • There is a lack of clear simple advice for families and poor signposting to non legal based support organisations;
  • VCF has pioneered a unique independent assessment and delivery service that avoids the one size fits all approach currently being used. It is clear that there is a need to embrace new ways of working such as this, within the Family Justice system.
