Keeping Children Safe (Seminars and Workshops)

A series of multi-agency seminars delivered to local community groups locally and nationally.  The seminars are aimed at safeguarding children in-borough and will bring together representatives from all children’s services and members of the community to open dialogue around keeping children safe within the legal framework of this country.

The seminar aims to address the key issues for those organisations working with families, young people and children – and to begin to develop the link between statutory agencies and the community.

A series of focused workshops for beneficiaries or users of local community groups, primarily from a black or minority ethnic (BME) background.  The purpose of these workshops is to listen to the views of parents or carers in bringing up their children within a cultural/religious context, encouraging them to come and find out about the laws protecting children in this country and to ensure that by working together we can find ways to keep all children safe.

VCF also delivers workshops to individual groups, where groups are able to satisfy the relevant criteria.

Adjo Children & Young People’s Forum is one of three workshops – together with the Adjo School Children Forum and the Adjo Parenting workshop.

We established this forum with the aim to respond to one aspect of the reform of the children’s services (post-Laming). The Adjo Children & Young People’s Forum is a confidential gathering for young people, aged 11-18, to come together within a safe, sensitive and engaging environment to discuss issues of vulnerability, parent relationships and support needs – and will empower children and young people to get involved in the design, provision and services that affect them or which they use.
