Through this report, VCF aims to demonstrate its open and continuing dialogue with professionals, practitioners and communities – to facilitate the necessary debate around areas of concern raised during its annual conference, pre- and post-conference meetings and related events.
The VCF Annual Conference 2008 was attended primarily by professionals with a role in safeguarding, many of whom have expressed their concerns about the lack of change at operational level, following the introduction of the child protection reforms and the Every Child Matters agenda, especially with regard to a number of recent public interest cases. Thus, during the course of the conference, VCF stated its call for the government to order an immediate review of the reforms.
