Hosted by Stepping Stones Nigeria, in partnership with Mboho Akwa Ibom State Association (UK and Ireland), the conference, to be held 30 May 2009, provides a platform for experts in the field of promoting and protecting the rights of children. It will explore the contributory factors that lead to the abuse of the Nigerian child and the role that different institutions play in this.

This is a pressing issue that all stakeholders need to work together to address. Recent cases such as the Nigerian pastor in Bradford who was accused of charges of child abuse and the plight of so-called child ‘witches’ in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria have led to a great deal of attention being paid to this issue.
