The Victoria Climbié Foundation was established by Mr and Mrs Climbié (Victoria’s parents) to campaign for improvement in child protection policies and practices and to ensure effective links & coordination between statutory agencies, care services and BME communities.
Jennette Arnold
Jennette Arnold AM became a member of the Greater London Authority in 2000 and was returned for a second term of office in July 2004. Her constituency covers the boroughs of Islington, Hackney and Waltham Forest.
{mosimage} Jennette believes fervently that inevitably, most things are linked to education. “My parents came to Britain from the Caribbean in the early 1960s to work. They taught me that education and employment are paths to a better life and that access to them should not depend on your post-code colour or country of origin”.
That passionate belief has been a central theme of her work as a nurse, trade unionist and social justice campaigner. It also led her into political office where she has worked with and for many of London’s diverse communities. Jennette was a local Councillor for eight years, and was Deputy Mayor of Islington in 1997/98.
